Verizon and Andftp

No luck so far connecting to my personal FTP site thru Samsung i500/ Verizon. Login sequence reports 331-Send email as password(?) which I tried, am I in trouble because of Verizon (older posts) ? or am I in need of some FAQ ? Tnx-Pete
